Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School has an enrolment scheme in place. Students who live in our home zone are automatically entitled to enrol at the school. Students living out of the zone who wish to enrol are subject to the procedures defined by the Education Act.
If you wish to apply for an out-of-zone enrolment, please complete the Ballot Application form, and we will be in touch.
Enrolment of out-of-zone pupils will be accepted in the following order:
First Priority: this priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education.
Second Priority: must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school.
Third Priority: must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school.
Fourth Priority: must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
Fifth Priority: must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the Board of the school or a child of a member of the Board or the school.
Sixth Priority: must be given to all other applicants.
In situations where the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available for out-of-zone students, selection will be by ballot. If a ballot is required at our school, it will be held on a nominated date and will be supervised by a Justice of the Peace (or as appropriate, a practising lawyer or a sworn member of the police).
Within three school days of this date, the school will send you an email informing you of the outcome of the ballot. If your application has been successful, you will be asked to confirm your acceptance or rejection of the offered place within 14 days of the date on the school’s email. If you do not respond within the 14-day period, the place will be offered to the first person on the waiting list established by the ballot.
If you would like further information about the out-of-zone enrolment process, please contact the school, either by email at admin@rolleston.school.nz, or by phone 03 347 8355.
