Empowering Parents: Free Event to Tackle Child & Teen Mental HealthSelwyn Parenting Network | Part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, Selwyn, Mon 23rd Sept
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, the Selwyn Parenting Network is proud to present Parent Power: Tackling Child & Teen Mental Health Together, a free community forum designed to equip parents, caregivers, and whānau with essential tools to support their children’s mental wellbeing.
Proudly sponsored by Fraemohs Homes, who share a passion in supporting mental health within our community, this event is a must-attend for families wanting to make a real difference in the lives of their young ones, and strengthen their knowledge of what strategies, resources and supports are available.
Leading the forum will be Malcolm Scott, a respected counsellor with over 40 years of experience working with youth and families, alongside Kate Webb, the Operational Lead at Selwyn Parenting Network and a passionate parent advocate. Together, they will offer practical strategies for addressing the mental health challenges faced by children and teens today.
“We understand how overwhelming it can feel for parents to navigate mental health challenges,” says Kate Webb. “This event is about coming together as a community, learning from each other, and ensuring that every parent feels supported in their journey.”
The evening will include an empowering presentation by both Malcolm Scott and Kate Webb, followed by open discussions where parents can ask questions and share their experiences. Attendees will also receive valuable resources to take home, with light refreshments provided.
