E Tū Tāngata – Stand Together

At Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School we recognise that: Others Matter, You Have Value and We Succeed Together.

We are committed to the journey of making a cultural shift within NZ Society and tackling the “Tall Poppy” Syndrome to transform communities. HOW? By allowing us all to E Tū Tāngata – Stand Tall and realise that we are ALL 10/10 people.

TO TAKE THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS TRANSFORMATION:

A person must understand and believe that you have value (ME). This flows onto understanding the worth of others and identifying how, collectively, a classroom, workplace, or community can succeed together (WE).

Finally, an individual understands what it means to be a part of something bigger than themselves. This involves looking outside of their classroom, workplace, or community and recognising that others matter (OTHERS).

To ensure that our students grow their E Tū Tāngata mindset we have created Foundation Values (Ahi Values) for our Year 0-2 students before we introduce the E Tū Tāngata Values in Year 3-8. The Ahi Values will ensure that our younger students understand key values and behaviours that will help them understand what it means to Have Value, Succeed Together and Show that Others Matter.
